It’s a good brush. Definitely a staple size for miniatures. The fact that they are imported and made with real hair means that it takes forever for you to get your brush in the mail and i feel like charged twice what the brush is worth. It really comes down to the painter on a choice on a brush like this. The brush is great holding paint at the tip and is easy enough to clean. Using it with any extra pigments paints and inks is not recommended. Using this brush on washes or metallic will dull the bristles and make it harder to clean and gum it up. Experience painters wont have any issues with this brush, i have found an equiv and adequate replacement for this brush at michaels that i use for the harsh paints and inks. Cleans up easily enough with proper care

The Raphael Kolinsky Sable brushes are the best I’ve found at the price point thus far for model and miniature painting. They have great control, the bristles snap just the right amount and they hold paint well. One possible downside is they tend to come with a label on the end of the handle which might irritate some people depending on your grip, but it is removable and a little acetone or alcohol will get the adhesive off of it. All in all, I’d say you can’t go wrong with these brushes for model and miniature painting. To compare them, I like them just a little bit more than the Windsor Newton Series 7, primarily because they don’t have the guide hair which is tends to bother me personally, but they are generally on par otherwise.

I purchased this brush and it was unfortunately badly frayed. I thought I was out of luck considering I didn’t get a chance to paint until just outside of the return window. I have to shout out Jackson’s Art Supplies for still sending me out a replacement despite the return window. The replacement is perfect and exactly what I needed for small details on miniatures that my size Raphael 2 sable brush was too big for.

I am a painter of 25mm scale pewter and plastic miniatures, and found this a very good brush for this purpose. When I first received the brush, it did not appear to come to a very fine point, but when the brush is wetted with water and/or paint it can be drawn out very fine by simply pulling it along a paper towel. The body of the brush is capable of holding a good amount of paint, and the tip has fine control. I have used it fairly extensively for two months and it shows no signs of wear. It is miles ahead of a $6 brush that you can get at Micheal’s or AC Moore – I would recommend this brush to any Miniature painter.
